LOMBARDIA U23: 176 ATHLETES, 36 TEAMS, 170 KM, LEGENDARY CLIMBS. WHO WILL BE ROLLAND’S SUCCESSOR?
2025-09-24

Nine days from today and it will be “Lombardia Under 23.”
The race known as the most prestigious event on the international U23 calendar will take place on Saturday, October 4th, starting and finishing in Oggiono, in the province of Lecco.

The 97th edition was officially presented during a press conference held at Palazzo Lombardia in Milan, attended by the top representatives of Velo Club Oggiono, the organizing club led by president Daniele Fumagalli, as well as by Mauro Piazza (Autonomy and Relations with the Regional Council) and Federica Picchi (Sport and Youth). Also present were Chiara Narciso (Mayor of Oggiono), Stefano Pedrinazzi (President of the Lombardy Regional Committee), and Giuseppe Giussani (Sole Administrator of Elettrosystem).

Despite the overlap with the European Championships in France, the Lombardia U23 will still feature 36 teams at the start, including 26 foreign squads, representing the best development teams from around the world.
From Oggiono, 176 riders will line up to face 170 kilometers of racing, featuring the legendary climbs of Madonna del Ghisallo (from the Bellagio side), Villa Vergano, Colle Brianza, and finally Marconaga di Ello, located just 6 kilometers from the finish line on Viale Vittoria.

Big names? Definitely. Expect to see the top young talents of the moment, and you can bet many of them will play starring roles on October 4th in this most coveted race.
Who will succeed Frenchman Rolland? One thing is certain — he will be a future champion.
